The original Blimpie location in Hoboken, New Jersey, is now closed. The first Blimpie store, which opened on May 16, 1964, was located at 110 Washington Street. The store was listed for lease in late 2016 and was expected to close and potentially relocate to a different address in Hoboken. As of 2025, the location is permanently closed.

Blimpie was founded in Hoboken, New Jersey, in 1964 by three friends: Tony Conza, Peter DeCarlo, and Angelo Baldassare. The name “Blimpie” was chosen after Conza found the word in a dictionary and felt it was a better fit for their “bigger and better” sandwiches than “subs” or “hoagies”. The first location was so successful that they opened two more shops within three months. The chain is recognized as the oldest submarine sandwich franchise in the U.S.

This is a tribute product.  Absolutely no affiliation or Association to the Blimpie corporatation.  This is considered Fair Use.  These pictures and graphics were taken in 1964.
